PROGRAMS
Programs include a Drop-in Center offering arts and crafts, music, meals, clothing, a food pantry and discussions groups. Microsoft Office User Training; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Keyboarding, Photoshop Elements, and QuickBooks. And, vocational counseling and job development leading to competitive employment. Training Schedule
Individual and small group classes: Monday through Thursday, 12-5
Certification exams: individually scheduled, before 12 noon and after 5 PM

Typing-Keyboarding
Develop confidence and learn the fun way with MAVIS self-paced multi-media instructional software. Mavis combines instruction with entertainment to hold your interest. This course is not only for the beginner but also for those who want a thorough refresher course.

Windows
Learn Windows operating system for Microsoft. Practice starting Windows, using the mouse, working with icons and Windows, running a Windows program, using Windows abilities, multiple applications, File Explorer, and getting Help. You will also create shortcuts, arrange and customize Windows.

Internet
Quickly and easily learn how to use the Internet as well as visit particular sites that are interesting, helpful or entertaining. Use e-mail, join news groups, down load information, browse the World Wide Web and listen to music. Our DSL and Firewall insures fast, safe connections.

Microsoft Office XP
The basic concepts of Microsoft applications: Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook are the cornerstone of success in today's marketplace. These applications play an essential role at the basic administrative level, and knowledge of them is key for anyone entering today's competitive market. They are also the prime examples of windows applications, and anyone wishing to become Windows proficient will find it useful to begin with a thorough understanding of these products. Industry experts familiar with the needs and demands of real-world situations recommend this type of training program.

MS/Word XP
Covers the new features of Word that make learning a breeze. Using four-color visual presentations you will learn to use Tool and Power Bars to create, edit, format and print documents. Additionally, you will learn Word commands: copy, move, delete, enhance text, use Speller, Thesaurus, Auto Text, AutoCorrect, breaks, page numbers, headers and footers. You will also learn to create and apply styles, create tables and forms, create basic macros and templates, import and create graphics, and Mail Merge.

MS/Excel XP
Design and build spreadsheets by learning to enter, edit and use auto formulas, functions and print options for business applications. Create graphics that illustrate the data entered.

MS/PowerPoint XP
By using some of PowerPoint's new content development, preparation and rehearsal features, you can be more effective in getting your point across whether you need quick overheads for a team briefing, slides for a sales meeting, or dazzling effects for an on-screen presentation.

MS/Access XP
Learn to create, manage and analyze databases. Topics covered are organizing data; recording data, creating queries, sorts, creating forms and reports.

Microsoft Certification:
The Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) Program is the Microsoft authorized program that verifies your Microsoft Office expertise. MOUS is a globally accepted standard that certifies your ability, your productivity and gives you a competitive edge. Graduates with MS/Word certification together with keyboard skills earn $10-$13/hours. MS Graduates who keep their job for six months receive a refurbished Pentium computer from the Center.

Vocational Counseling
Clarify your employment goals, fine tune your resume, develop a plan and get your dream job. We specialize in benefits counseling and the Economics Recovery. Donald M. Fitch, M.S.

Benefits Assistance
Application assistance for housing, transportation, debt management, free medication, clothing, etc. Utilizes the Center's Form-Link© the largest computerized compilation of Federal, State and County Case management application forms. Form-Link delivers more services in less time with less stress. No need for lengthy referrals. Donald M. Fitch, M.S.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
Tuesday and Thursday, 9-12 brief 30 minute sessions designed to assist members in coping with the stresses of computer training and re-entering competitive employment. Dr. Steven H. Smith, Psy.D.

Physicians Desk Reference (2003)
Easily search a data base of thousands of prescription drugs to learn why the drug is prescribed, side effects, interactions, etc. Increase your knowledge and strengthen your therapeutic partnership with your Doctor.

Arts & Crafts
Monday and Wednesday, 2-3. Multimedia arts and crafts with Kathy our resident artist. Sponsored in part by a grant for the Westchester Arts Council.

Folk Guitar
Monday and Thursday, 3-5. Join Gerry, our resident musician on classical or electric guitar.

Pizza Party, Guest Lectures, Movies
Fridays, 1-4. Leading community and government speakers, pizza, soda and great classic videos.

Free Food
Deli lunch anytime; Kosher hot dogs, cheese, turkey, peanut butter/jelly, fresh fruit, lemonade, tea, water, popcorn. Food pantry; take home a bag of staples; canned goods, juices, pasta, beans, sauce, candy, etc. Supported by a grant from FOODPATCH. Have a piece of Birthday cake the 1st Thursday of each month.

Free Clothing
Excellent quality men's and women's suits, separates and accessories like new. Donated by Beth-El Synagogue, New Rochelle.
